Cadzow Clydesdale

Artist: Catherine J. Bell
Sponsor: Visit Lanarkshire
Location: Strathclyde Park

The ‘Cadzow Clydesdale’ design was inspired by a love of history and the rich, yet often overlooked, heritage of  Hamilton and its surrounding area. The Cadzow Oaks, located at Chatelherault, represent 500 years of history and land use around the Hamilton estates.

In the same way that the Clydesdale horse represents a former way of life and animal husbandry so too do the oaks where they sit within the Dukes’ former hunting grounds.

The design is stylised in an attempt to merge these two historical and iconic symbols.
